If a few days is all you have and you want to be in the Central Backpacker area of Khao San Road, you have a few good places: (See: Sleep)

- Rambutrri Village Inn: the Best at the Wat-area Backpackers Original with rooftop pool.
- Rikka Inn: the best Backpackers Original on Khao San New & Clean with rooftop pool (from 600 baht).
- New Siam RiverSide: Brand New on Phra A Thit (Pier).
- Rambuttri-House: Brand New, no swimming pool but überly clean.
The benefit of staying in the Khao San area is that offers 24/7 shopping, eating, drinking and dancing. It is also conveniently located to undertake your explorations which are a little further a field. If on the other hand, you want more outrageous luxury The Orient Hotel, is the best in the world, or a somewhere a bit cheaper and more hip, the recently opened Siam@Siam Design Hotel is definitely the place to B.
SHOPPING
CENTRAL WORLD PLAZA is rebuild and absolute a Must-go-to. You wouldn't want to miss the TopShop store, Zense (on the 18th floor the hippest spot in town with a view to kill

JJ Weekend market:
What ever you do if you are in Bangkok on a Saturday or Sunday you just have to visit it. And come early, ‘cause this shopping paradise can change in to a shopping hell in the afternoon, as it gets very crowded and very hot. This is a massive outdoor market, the largest in South-east Asia, and while impossible to see it all, check out the best spots at this Shopping Mecca: weekend market / not to be missed
A lot of the hip Clothing and Accessories from the Weekend market are also sold every night at Khao San Road at the Night Market.
Siam: Another place that is not to be missed is Siam, the headquarters of shopping in Bangkok. Without a doubt, this is the No. 1
place to go. The ultimate shop till you drop sport. The best at Siam is Siam Square, the show case of young and hip Thai Designers at a great price – though it is worth noting that there are is a prevalence of small size and Siam Center is a mixture between world famous and Thai hot trendy fashion designers. For much more expensive but the genuine brand names you can visit Siam Discovery Center and of course the biggest mall in Asia: Siam Paragon which has a variety of everything even cars. If that isn’t enough shopping for you, there are 2 more places to checkout: CWP (Central World Plaza, formerly WTC), a corner away from Siam Paragon and the unique MBK, packed with cheap, Thai imitation clothing, footwear and accessories. Without doubt, there is more in these malls that will exhaust a committed shopaholic You can easily spend days here, and still not see it all.
Tip: Leave your guy at the hotel or send him to Panthip Plaza, there is no guy who can handle soo much shopping!
What ever you do, don't miss the über-hip Thonglor, Sukhumvit Soi 55.

If you are in the neighborhood of Siam, Emporium or Thonglor, go to Greyhound Cafe for incredibly divine and hip food. An absolute must! Especially their Appetizer (nr.18) Home Pate with cognac, really yummie! Something more Sweet? Try the Weekends Chocolate Buffet at the Sukhothai Hotel or a High Tea at the High Tea Author’s Lounge at the 5 ✩ DeLuxe Orient Hotel. Want to see Bangkok from above? Have a cocktail at Vertigo on the 61st floor at the Banyan Tree Hotel.
Dancing with the Stars? Bed Supperclub is one of the hottest places to B. relaxed lounging eating or dancing in a futuristic UFO-like tube or try the popular Face, or the New York style club Q bar, or on the hot and über hip Sukhumvit soi 55 (Thonglor) the Witch Tavern.
